About Chachoengsao
Chachoengsao or Paet Riu that the province is often called, is located approximately 100 kilometer east of Bangkok. The city was established in the mid-1500s and was used as a recruitment base for the old capital, Ayutthayas forces.
Today Chachoengsao landscape consists mainly of large number of paddy fields and fish farms.
Agriculture is one of the province's most common incomes and in addition to just the cultivation of rice, sugar cane, maize and fruit. The cultivation is often done at the local level, when the province almost totally lacking of large-scale industries and businesses. Bang Pakong River flows through the province and the city, and then lead to Siam bay. On the river several boat trips are arranged with different destinations. Long tail boats departure usually from the city's market or the Sothon-temple.

Attractions
The pre historical fortress can be found inside the city in Maruphong Road. The fortress was used frequently by both Rama III and V. A large number of ancient cannons can be found along the wall, in addition to the fort is next to the park and its view of the Bang Pakong an attraction in itself.
Chinese New Year is celebrated in January and February and lasts for five days. During the ceremonies first day is a beauty contest held in which contestants from across the province participate in a parade of colorful costumes. The celebrations then continues with various performances and the sale of local products.
Luang Por Sothon festival is a religious feast which is celebrated in mid-april and lasts for three days. A large number of festival activities are arranged throughout the city and along the river. Luang Por Sothon is considered to be one of the province's largest festivals.
