About Kalasin

In relation to their nearby neighbors are Kalasin a relatively small and well-off province. The distance to Bangkok is about 520 kilometer and you can´t reach the province by air or train you need to change and take a bus or car the last kilometers to the province.

Archaeological findings have shown that the Lawa people lived in the area 1600 years ago. It was in the beginning of the Bangkok-era (around 1793) as Kalasin was registered as a city.

About 30 km north of the city you find the artificial dam Lam Pao. In addition to the dam a zoo has been built, which serves as one of the region's main attractions. The nature of the province's northern part, can be described as rocky, while the nature in the southern parts of Kalasin consists mostly of forest.




Attractions

Doc Khoon Siang Khaen is a flower festival which is held at the same time as the Thai New Year Songkran. Colorful flower arrangements contribute along with traditional dance and music for the annual festival.

Ban Phon village's silk products is manufactured by Phu Thai people living in the village and is originally of Vietnamese origin and is now most famous for its production of colorful silk products.
