About Bangkok
Bangkok or Krung thep (which is a shortened version of the Thai name and means "City of Angels") is the capital of Thailand since 1782. The city has about 10 million registered residents and an estimated few million unregistered.
Bangkok is the world's hottest capital city, with an average of over 30 degrees celsius. Attractions
Grand Palace consists of several buildings stretching over an area of 218 400 square meter Even the very famous smaragd buddha can be found here in the temple Wat Phra Keaw. Construction of the palace began in 1782 and served until 1946 as a residence for King Rama VIII.
Wat Pho is Bangkok's largest and probably the oldest temple. Here one finds the huge lying Buddha. The Buddha is often seen on guide books, newspapers and on postcards.
Thai boxing or Muay Thai is Thailand's national sport. Lumpini and Ratchadamnoen is the most famous stadiums and matches are held here several times a week.
Crocodile Farm is well worth a visit. Here you can choose to feed or just watch the 60 000 crocodiles found in the farm. Various shows that include, for example, crocodile wrestling is held several times a day.
