About Mukdahan
Or the pearl at Maekong rivers shore bank, which the city is sometimes called, is located at the Laos border in northeastern Thailand. The well-known river separates the two countries and form a magnificent landscape.
From the height Phu Manorom, three kilometers from the city you get a good overview of Maekong as well as the city of Savannakhet and Laos on the side of the river. The nature in the area is considered relatively well preserved and twenty national and nature parks have been recorded in the area.
If you want to cross the river to Laos, there are close to the city access to both the immigration office and to boat transportation. Mukdahan province is relatively young. In 1982 was the city upgraded from district to the country's seventy-third province.

Attractions
Wat Si Mongkhon Tai is a temple located in the city, near the border control to Laos. Here you find one of the area's ancient and most revered Buddha sculptures.
Phu Sa Doc Bua National Park is an area located about 50 kilometers from the city, it´s most well known for its high cliffs and a flower-rich flora.
