Maekong River forms a natural border with the neighboring country and in this area you find many beautiful parks.

For centuries, people from Laos and other different ethnicity´s crossed the river and settled on Thai soil. This has led to Nakhon Phanom´s culture and dialect has a unique and multicultural character. Something that is typical for the province is the folk dance Sri Kotrabun. At one of the province's many festivals is the traditional dance often one of the main attractions. The distance to Bangkok is about 740 kilometer and there are daily bus and plane operating the distance.
