Nong Bua Lamphu province

Popular tourist destinations: King Naresuan the Great Statue, Khongsawan Village, Erawan Cave, Phu Kao Phupankam National Park and Wat Tham Suwannakhuha.


About Nong Bua Lamphu

In the Isaan areas, northern part is the relatively small town of Nong Bua Lamphu located. The city's history stretches over 900 years but the province wasen´t a province until 1993. This made Nongbua lamphun to Thailand's 76: e and youngest province. Earlier the city had the title district and belonged to the province of Udon Thani.

The landscape is dominated by mountains and lakes, because the city's long history, also a large quantity of interesting historical ruins. One of the area's most famous natural area consists of nine mountains which together bear the name Phu Kao. Alongside the mountains rich plants and wildlife, you will also find several large waterfalls and caves.




Attractions

King Naresuan the Great statue is located within the city limits and was erected in memory of the king who in 1574 made a stop in the relatively small city. The king and his forces were on their way to Vientiane in order to support a Burmese force that attacked the town.

Noen Wat Pa is a prehistoric structures. It dates from the time when the region was controlled by the Khmer Erna.
