About Pathum Thani
The province town lies about 50 kilometers north of Bangkok and the landscape here is characterized by the Chao Phraya river channels and many fertile shore banks. Oranges are one of the fruits grown most in the province and the big plantations are creating plenty of jobs.
Before the name of the city was Muang Sam Khok and was founded during the Ayutthaya era. Population comes largely from the neighboring country of Myanmar (Burma) and belongs to the minority people Mon. The Mon people are likely to come initially from India and have been in central Thailand for over two thousand years. To Pathum Thani joined the people first for about 360 years ago.
The country's national sport; Thai boxing or Muay Thai has a strong foothold in the province. The Muay Thai Institute, which is found in the city, annually attracts lots of practitioners from around the world. Besides the regular training is conducted here are also training for instructors and judges.

Attractions
Dream World is an amusement park located near the Don Muang airport. A miniature country is one of the park's attractions.
Wat Sing Mon temple, is located three kilometers from the city. A large gold Buddha in Ayutthaya style belongs along with the temple Mon-museum to the main attractions.
