About Phitsanulok
Around 375 kilometers north of the country's capital, you find the historic city of Phitsanulok. The province has, by its geographical location participated in many battles and conflicts. The city has also served as the capital for 25 years. This was for over 500 years ago and now Phitsanulok plays a small but not insignificant role. The province's strategic position makes it a hub who links the northern and central Thailand.
The landscape is essentially flat with a fairly massive mountain range in the east. In this hilly area there are plenty of waterfalls and national parks which is good for trekking and excursions.
Some of the province's typical food products are Kluai Tak (dried bananas) and Naem (processed pork meat). Another of the province's features are the hundreds of houseboats that float along the Nan river beaches.

Attractions
Wat Phra Mahathat or Wat Si Yai temple, which it´s often called, contains one of Thailand's most beautiful and most respected Buddha, Phra Phutthachinarat. Hundreds of tourists visit the temple every day to witness the magnificent bronze sculpture.
