About Phuket
Phuket or Koh Phuket island, which it is sometimes referred to (Koh means island), is located outside Thailand's southwestern coast. Two bridges linking Thailand's largest island with the mainland. This allows the bus to get there directly from Bangkok, which lies 862 km north. There are also daily flights from Bangkok to Phuket.
Previously, the production of tin and rubber was the main source of income for the people in Phuket. In recent years, however, many local residents left their traditional work in order to feed the large amount of tourists who annually visit the island. Phuket is known for its long and beautiful beaches, great range of tourist attractions and the friendly people. Today, Phuket is Thailand's richest province. The tourism industry in phuket is obviously a major contributing factor to this.
