Capital: Ratchaburi
Neighboring provinces: Five (5): Kanchanaburi, Nakhon Pathom, Phetchaburi, Samut Sakhon and Samut Songkhram. It also borders to Myanmar (Burma).

About Ratchaburi

Eighty kilometers west of Bangkok you find the province of Ratchaburi. Ratchaburi border with the neighboring country Myanmar in the west and in addition to the mountain chain that separates the two countries, the province's landscape consists mainly of the Mae Klong river banks. In this fertile river landscapes economy is mainly based on the large quantities of crops grown by local farmers.

The mountain chain Tanawasri, near the border, the population consists out of several ordinary people whose backgrounds and traditions vary as much as their language and dress. People from Laos and Thai Song Dam are examples of groups coming from the neighboring country of Laos. People from Laos takes its name from their special language in which most words end with a "Ti". Thai Song Dam, the people's name comes from their tradition to wear black clothing. (Dam means black in Thai).

The most common handicraft products in the province is water pots. Today, you find several smaller pot factory's in the area and if you want to buy this traditional handicraft you can go to the Damon Saduak liquid market.




Attractions

Tham Khao Bin is the province's largest cave and extends 300 meters into the mountain and is located about twenty kilometers from Ratchaburi town.

The province's botanical garden, there are about twenty kilometers from the city on the road to Amphoe Chome Bunge. The garden, is located on a hill, containing the entire country's tree flora.

Ratchaburi National Museum worked previously as the city's town hall, but has since 1988 been used as a museum. The province's multicultural history is presented in the form of antique items.
