About Samut Sakhon
Barely thirty kilometers west of Bangkok is the little coastal province of Samut Sakhon. Port city, which has a long tradition of fishing and trade, often called the Tha Chin. Probably because of the extensive trade happened with Chinese vessels. Tha Chin is also the name of the river that flows through the province. River leads to Siam bay and at its eastern shore bank was established in 1548 the military recruitment center Sakhon Buri.
In 1704 were the city and the river through the canal dug Khlong Mahachai. The city changed the governors also the name of Mahachai, which is among the local population today is an established concept. Rama the Fourth Amended finally named to the Samut Sakhon.
The province still today serves as a center for fishing and trade marked, not least on Mahachai's market.
