About Satun
At the bottom in Thailand's southwestern coast, about 980 km from Bangkok, you will find the town of Satun. The province borders with the Andaman Sea in the west and against Malaysia in the south. Just as in the neighboring country, the majority of the population is Muslim.
There is about 50 islands off the coast of Satun, together with Thailand's oldest marine national park, Tarutao. Koh Tarutao is also the name of the largest island in the area, at one time operated as a prison, and today visitors can witness the old prison ruins in Ao Talos Udang and Ao Talowao. Two kilometers from the Malaysian border, there are another popular national park, Thale Ban. Nature here is characterized by high mountains with several waterfalls and caves.
