About Sukhothai

Sukhothai town is located approximately 430 km north of Bangkok and it was here, the nation Thailand once actually was created. During the province's heyday (1300 to 1400s) was the basis for what is today the country's identity, religion and writing. As the field today is visited by many tourists (both Thais and foreigners) are here plenty of restaurants and accommodation options.

A popular attraction among visitors is the world classed Thai Sukhothai historical park. The area is only 12 km outside the city center, and here one finds remains of the temple buildings and ancient plumbing and masonry. To transport you self the relatively short distances in the city you only need Tuk-Tuk or bicycle.




Attractions

Ramkhamhaeng National Museum offers art objects and Buddha statues from the Sukhothai era.

Thai Sukhothai historical park shows unique ruins of an ancient society.

Wat Sri Chuma is a temple of the area's largest Buddha statue, which are eleven meters wide and stands fifteen meters above the ground.
