About Surin
The city of Surin is located approximately 450 kilometers east of Bangkok and borders to the neighboring country of Cambodia in the south.
Although there is no definite evidence of how old the city is, teaches the construction of Surin that the city is about two thousand years old. Its present name was given, however, to the city in 1786.
Several smaller villages outside the city specializes in specific occupations and several of the villages have also been named after the typical employment. Some examples are Silver village, basket village, and elephant village. In the elephant village the elephants mainly lives as pets and live side by side with the people.

Attractions
Surin elephant show is held in Surin town, in the third week of November each year. Over a hundred elephants are out and do shows. The elephants are very well trained and in the shows the elephants play football games and do traditional war marches. A large number of participants coming from the above-mentioned Elephant village.
Prasad Hin Chome Phra is a Khmer stone castle built about thirty miles outside Surin city. Today, a large Buddha has been erected in front of the construction.
