Crocodile Meat to Flood Victims

AYUTTHAYA - A generous crocodile farmer in Ayutthaya is now offering free crocodile meat to Thais affected by floods in central and eastern Thailand. The crocodile farm said they can help to provide meat as long it is needed.

Crocodile meat is about twice as expensive as chicken and pork. However, there are a lot of people who are skeptical about eating this animal, for various reasons.

Our thoughts: Of course, this is a very laudable initiative. Crocodile meat is also really yummy. Personally, I really like it and find it rather similar to chicken. Tender and delicate. Newsstop

Armed Australian "Taxi driver"

PHUKET - An Australian guy came up with the brilliant idea to run his own unregistered taxi business in Patong, Phuket.

A female (real) taxi driver complained that he was not licensed to drive a taxi in Thailand and it culminated in a verbal argument. He ignored her admonitions and let passengers get in his car.

After his journey, he returned to look for the female taxi driver, who obviously had angered him greatly. When he saw her, he took out a bladed weapon, stepped out from the car and walked toward her. When he discovered that other taxi drivers rushed to help her, he went back for a gun loaded with rubber bullets. People then began trying to call the police and the Aussie fled the scene. He was arrested shortly thereafter.

Our thoughts: He must have left his brain at home. Newsstop

A Few Words about me

My name is Jens and I was born in the early seventies in Södertälje, Sweden. I traveled for the first time to Thailand in 1989-1990 and already then started to have strong (positive) feelings for the country and it's people. During subsequent trips, it was mainly beach-life and Muay Thai training on the agenda but as time has gone by a strong interest regarding Thailand's history, community and culture has emerged within me. In early 2004, I moved here permanently.

My wife Rawadee is indirectly involved in the writing and contributes with knowledge, facts and inspiration. We try to alternate daily news from the country with our own reflections. The news and blog are illustrated with some photos, both my own and others. I hope you'll find the reading somewhat useful and I am of course open to your comments, suggestions and criticisms.

We are full-time geeks. Jens is working with web development, search engine optimization, graphic design and photography. Rawadee had a computer shop before, but is now also working with web development.
