About Uthai Thani
In northern Thailand's southern parts, you find the beautiful Uthai Thani. The beauty of the mountains in the province's western parts, together with the untouched jungle parts have made this area a World Heritage. River Mae Nam Sakaekrang that extends through the countryside is best known for its floating fish houses made of bamboo. Anyone who wants to take a trip on the river can rent small boats of the local population.
Archaeological findings have shown that people from a prehistoric era once lived in the area. Today, many of the residents here work with fruit or vegetables farming. Hand-made bags and baskets belongs also to the people's traditional products here.
In October each year, the feast Tak Bat Thewo is held. Hundreds of monks gathered then in a parade and walks together down the Khao Sakaekrangs steps. Below waits lots of people with gifts to honor their religion and its creator.
